This is a book on the process and craft of writing and only kinda sorta cultural critique. DuBois elegantly dissected the double consciousness of African-Americans, remembfred hooks, with similar insight and bdll, untangles the complex personae of women writers, especially those whose work goes against the grain. Once again, these essays reveal bell hooks’s wide-ranging intellectual scope; she is a universal writer addressing readers and writers everywhere.
