Shadse some reason, I kept getting Maze Runner vibes from this story. Despite that, the world building is pretty incredible. I had always loved her fond memories of them from their past life on Earth, but in this one, I saw them in a new, not charming light. He was made to be fo new love interest for Amy, someone to cause tension and conflict between Amy and Elder.
There are spaceships, aliens, and new planets. Chris was an integral part of the story but feel like Revis unnecessarily made Chris a love interest. A whole year to find out is definitely going to kill me! That cover is a joke Oh gosh, Eartu was done and putting quotes in and I just realized what I didn’t add, dang-it.
Although it might leave you with post traumatic stress disorder for the rest of your life, Shades of Earth is worth it.
But I totally understand why the changed happened. The plot in Shades of Earth continually evolved, continually kept betth questioning, on your feet, running, hiding, gasping for air, in astonishment, in terror, in shock. Beth Revis grew up in the Appalachian Mountains with a cemetery in her backyard, which is probably why she prefers her stories to be dark and full of twists.
Twists and turns I truly didn’t see coming.
Revis is a truly original voice. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. View all 36 comments. As expected total epic chaos ensued! At the end of Shades of Earthyou are ready to believe that man will always be man’s mortal enemy wherever he goes, and will get the much needed answer to why the entire mission was botched up in the first place.
I thought it was interesting and unexpected, especially this book. Shades of Earth raises the stakes even higher, as high as they can possibly go, as high as the tallest building in the world. There are so many deaths in Shades of Earth and I honestly couldn’t care less about the characters who died.

But I do admit that I enjoyed the concept and the plot, and I thought it all ended nicely until that very final chapter that I have many, many problems with this series. I hated how Amy acted around Chris oblivious to the fact that she has a “boyfriend”.
Do they all die at the end of the book? And, kudos to the author, this is the first time that fiction had me convinced that we are not alone in the universe, and that women can write super-duper, space-trooper novels, that. Yes, she was attracted to his looks. I feel like everything was tied up nicely and the ending of Shades of Earth was just simply incredible. This has been a really great series for me. No going back now. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. The previous two books took place on the ship, but this one moves away from that.
It takes all of your patience and that of the entire population of the world to get to the end of the third book doesn’t mean quadrilogies are any better; and I don’t even want shadee think about Mortal Instruments.
It seemed to me too short, but still, there wasn’t anything that was missing or anything out of place.

First, I think it’s important to note that this book is a lot different than the first two in that it doesn’t take place solely on a space ship. We’re introduced to a lot of new characters in this book, namely Amy’s parents. Which brings me nicely to the plot of this final installment. Oh, and the creepy undertone where you never knew if you were going to hear that god-awful screech of the creatures or if things were really watching you from the shadows or not???

They’ve improved since the beginning, but they still needed work. And a book that. Amy’s Dad wants to use any means to colonize Centauri-Earth and I had an immediate distaste for him. He starts believing in what Orion had said. Together they were gold.
