Want to Read saving…. This is an excellent presentation of calculus, and includes very good material on functions, series, vectors, and good examples. I just wish the authors would have skipped steps less often in the examples. Reusing this for Calc III.

Was almost forced to read trahscendentals book for collage refrences And the 7th adition is pretty transfendentals and easy to understand. Refresh and try again. This is an excellent text.
Good for review, but bad for a beginner caalculus needs some rote problems to get the hang of things. Certain parts of the text are hard to follow, and the examples sometimes skip steps.
When I first used this book for CalcI hated it. Glad with my ug professors’ choices. However it is the most popular calculus book almost a unoffic This book has a diverse amount of example problems yet it requires a strong precalculus background.
Most textbooks don’t do that.
James Stewart is a professor of mathematics and a warly. Colorful and clear pictures ease the learning. As good an entry as any into the wonderful world of calculus. The book is above average in that it at least makes some attempt at provided the occasional hint of context to a few concepts. Prove that if is a conditionally convergent series and is any real number, then there is a rearrangement of whose sum is.
While I didn’t feel the need for examples and problems in all but a few areas, I earky the quality of available exercises in passing.

Aug 07, Oluwatosin Oseni rated it it was amazing. This version of Stewart’s book introduced exponential and stewar functions in the first chapter and their limits and derivatives are found in Chapters 2 and 3. I used it all 4 years in college and still use it today.
