Each perspective was intertwined with the main plot and they were introduced in a way that allowed me time to develop a sense for each person and their inner demons. The gods merely helped. I spent some time getting acquainted with the world and its dynamics, and had some trouble keeping everything straight at first. Given that the plot is darker and sinister, she was able to write it in a way that’s consistent to the premise – the narration really does give you the impression that something malicious and evil is or will be happening, while also keeping you on your toes and at the edges of your seats.
